Daniel Levy was a valued client who lived in a self-contained flat within a Jewish Blind & Disabled supported living home. He had chosen to work with his own team of private carers, carefully selecting those he felt most comfortable with. We were honoured to be part of that trusted circle.
Daniel lived with bipolar disorder, a condition that had been misdiagnosed earlier in life. During his time at Shenley Hospital many years ago, he was mistakenly diagnosed with schizophrenia. Despite these challenges, Daniel remained a highly intelligent and gentle man, full of depth and character.
Though he used a wheelchair and lived with osteoporosis that affected his overall strength and grip, Daniel valued his independence. Our role was to support him—not take over. We helped with:
Daniel also received personal care from another agency, and we worked in close collaboration with them to ensure all his needs were met. This flexible, team-based approach is a hallmark of our care model—allowing us to focus on daily wellbeing, lifestyle support, and companionship while partnering with others to deliver more clinical services.
A particularly touching connection for Daniel was the fact that our founder, Monique, is Jewish. This shared cultural understanding made him feel more at ease and understood—something that meant a great deal to him.
Daniel occasionally experienced manic episodes that required hospital stays, but each time he returned home, we were there to help him re-settle, rebuild his routine, and feel safe again.
He was an engaging and thoughtful man who loved to talk—his stories, reflections, and knowledge left a lasting impression on all of us. Daniel will always be remembered with great affection for the trust he placed in us and the warmth he brought to our visits.
